Mój Prąd 6.0 Programme – A Comprehensive Guide to PV and Energy Storage Subsidies in Poland

Mój Prąd 6.0 Programme – A Comprehensive Guide to PV and Energy Storage Subsidies in Poland

What Is the Mój Prąd 6.0 Programme?

Mój Prąd 6.0 is a Polish government initiative supporting the development of renewable energy, implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW). The sixth edition of the programme, which began on 2 September 2024, brought a record budget of PLN 1.85 billion from the Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme. A key novelty of this edition is the emphasis on energy storage and increasing self-consumption. The programme aims not only to support photovoltaic installations but above all to relieve the electricity grid by promoting solutions that enable produced energy to be used directly at the point of generation.

Subsidy Amounts and Scope of Support

Mój Prąd 6.0 offers comprehensive financial support for various elements of renewable energy installations. The maximum subsidy amount can be as much as PLN 28,000, representing up to 50% of eligible investment costs.

  • Photovoltaic microinstallations – PLN 6,000 for installations notified to the grid operator by 31 July 2024 without additional devices; PLN 7,000 for installations notified by 31 July 2024 with an energy or heat storage system; PLN 7,000 for all installations notified from 1 August 2024 onwards (mandatory energy storage).
  • Electricity storage systems – up to PLN 16,000. Minimum required capacity: 2 kWh; maximum price per 1 kWh: PLN 6,000.
  • Heat storage systems (e.g. electric boilers, domestic hot water tanks) – up to PLN 5,000. Minimum capacity: 20 litres.

Programme Conditions and Requirements

Applicant Eligibility

The programme is addressed to natural persons generating electricity for their own needs who have concluded a comprehensive agreement with a Distribution System Operator (OSD). The applicant must be the owner or co-owner of a detached house, which may be either completed or under construction. A key requirement is possession of an electricity meter that is changed from a unidirectional to a bidirectional meter during the investment.

Technical Requirements

PV microinstallation capacity: 2–10 kW for installations notified by 31 July 2024; 2–20 kW for installations notified from 1 August 2024. The total capacity of all RES installations held by the prosumer, including the new PV microinstallation and energy storage, must not exceed 50 kW. A key change in Mój Prąd 6.0 is the obligation to have an electricity or heat storage system for installations notified from 1 August 2024. Settlement in the net-billing system (value-based system) is also required.

How to Apply for the Subsidy

Applications are submitted exclusively electronically via the Grant Application Generator (GWD) at mojprad.gov.pl. A complete application must include:

  • Copies of invoices or named receipts for the supply and installation of the PV installation, energy storage and heat storage (purchase contracts and notarial deeds are not accepted).
  • Confirmation of payment (bank transfer confirmation, KP document or written statement).
  • Certificate from the Distribution System Operator (OSD) confirming the grid connection date with the Power Consumption Point number – this is an absolutely critical document that must bear a stamp, signature and connection date.
  • Acceptance protocol for additional devices (excluding PV microinstallation) and product data sheets.
  • Declaration of settlement in the net-billing system.

The application window was extended to 31 October 2025 (note: the programme ended on 12 September 2025 at 23:00). The programme operates on a rolling basis. The initial eligibility date for costs is 1 January 2021. Processing time has been extended to 260 working days due to the significant increase in the number of applications.

Most Common Application Errors

  • Selection of non-compliant devices – devices notified for subsidy must meet programme criteria (PV capacity, storage capacity, price per kWh).
  • Missing or incorrectly completed OSD certificate – this leads to immediate rejection. The applicant must obtain this document independently from the grid operator.
  • Incorrect email addresses – applicants provide only the proxy’s address without their own contact address; all notifications go to addresses given in the application.
  • Inconsistencies in personal data, errors in energy consumption point numbers, use of outdated forms and lack of appropriate proof of payment are also common errors. A loan agreement does not replace a bank transfer confirmation.

New Features in Mój Prąd 6.0

For the first time, the programme included balcony photovoltaics, photovoltaic roof tiles and carports with PV cells. In practice, however, the minimum power requirement of 2 kW means approximately five standard panels must be installed, requiring almost 9 metres of balustrade. Plug-in solar kits for self-installation, enormously popular in Western Europe, are effectively excluded by the 2 kW power limit. The programme places particular emphasis on increasing self-consumption – electricity storage systems can increase self-consumption from the typical 30–40% to as much as 70–80%. In the net-billing system, where energy fed into the grid is priced at lower wholesale rates (approximately PLN 400–500/MWh) while energy drawn costs retail rates (approximately PLN 800–1,200/MWh), high self-consumption translates directly into greater savings.

Programme Statistics and Status

From the start of the application window (2 September 2024) to September 2025, over 121,000 applications were submitted for a total record amount of PLN 1.85 billion. Of these, 74,000 applications concerned residential electricity storage systems and over 20,000 concerned heat storage systems. At the beginning of September 2025, the programme budget was 95% utilised – applications submitted totalled PLN 1.764 billion, meaning only PLN 85.6 million remained. The original budget was PLN 400 million, subsequently increased to PLN 1.25 billion and then to the record PLN 1.85 billion.

Mój Prąd vs. Czyste Powietrze (Clean Air) Programme

The programmes can be combined – using Mój Prąd for a PV installation with energy storage and the Clean Air Programme for home thermal renovation. The Clean Air Programme focuses on building energy modernisation (boiler replacement, thermal insulation, ventilation, windows and doors) with subsidies from 40% to 100% of costs depending on household income. Mój Prąd 6.0 focuses exclusively on renewable energy sources – PV and energy/heat storage, has no income criterion and is characterised by the simplest procedure (online applications only). A typical combined scenario covers PV with energy storage under Mój Prąd and boiler replacement, building insulation and heat pump installation under Clean Air.

Summary – Is It Worth Using the Programme?

Mój Prąd 6.0 represents a unique opportunity to invest in renewable energy with financial support reaching up to PLN 28,000. Key advantages: significant reduction in investment costs, no income criterion, simple online application procedure and the ability to combine with other support programmes. Challenges: long processing times (up to 260 working days), necessity for complete and error-free documentation, and the obligation to switch to net-billing for prosumers using net-metering. The decision to use the programme should be preceded by careful analysis of individual energy needs, the technical capabilities of the property and total investment costs. Professional installers can help in selecting optimal solutions and submitting a correct application. Mój Prąd 6.0 is not just financial support but above all an investment in the future – lower electricity bills, greater energy independence and a cleaner environment.
