PG Group Training for EDP Energia Polska – Structures, Know-How and Great Energy!

PG Group Training for EDP Energia Polska – Structures, Know-How and Great Energy!

On 8 April 2025, a specialist training session organised by PG Group – a manufacturer of modern photovoltaic structures – took place for EDP Energia Polska, a general contractor and investor in the energy sector, at the West Gate conference centre on Al. Jerozolimskie in Warsaw.

The training was led by PG Group experts: Maciej Sławiński – PV Manager, and structural engineers Łukasz Czykiel and Roman Uchnast. The meeting was an excellent opportunity not only to present the activities and history of PG Group, but above all to discuss in detail the key design and execution issues related to the selection and foundation of PV structures.

During the meeting, a wide range of technical topics was covered, including:

  • geological guidelines – soil surveys for non-building land, humus and embankments,
  • analysis of geotechnical survey results and their impact on the choice of structure type and parameters,
  • structural solutions for soils with low load-bearing capacity (peat, waterlogged terrain),
  • interpretation and application of pull-out test results,
  • design differences depending on soil characteristics,
  • foundation of ballast structures, including on humus without its removal,
  • issues related to roof mounting – including snow and wind loads, panel types (bifacial/monofacial) and calculations based on reports,
  • analysis of the impact of structure type on implementation costs,
  • ground and substructure preparation for installation – including levelling, compaction and access roads,
  • durability of roofing membranes and the need for friction and soil aggressiveness tests,
  • detailed discussion of anchoring (GOK) principles and possibilities for project optimisation based on zone reactions.

The training was interactive in nature – participants were able to ask questions, share experiences and jointly analyse specific design cases. The whole event took place in a very positive atmosphere, with delicious coffee, snacks and a shared lunch, which fostered integration and deepened relations between the technical teams of both companies.

We thank the EDP Energia Polska team for their active participation and openness to knowledge! We are delighted to have been able to share our expertise and look forward to further fruitful cooperation on future projects.
